Situated in the North West of Oman, Khasab was once a city isolated from the rest of the region. Once a new road was constructed from the United Arab Emirates to Khasab, the city began to develop its infrastructure and tourism. Khasab is the ideal destination from which to explore the peninsula of Musandam.
Points of Interest
Constructed by the Portuguese in the beginning of the 17th century, Khasab Castle has housed the 'Wali' and his family in centuries gone by and has now been restored into a regional museum. It is very well maintained and features a great view of the harbour. For a small entry fee you can see some of the interesting artifacts inside the castle and learn more about the history of Oman and the Musandam region.
Taking a dhow cruise is easily the best way to view these spectacular feats of nature. You'll have the chance to view the coastal villages, and if you're lucky you might even see a group of playful dolphins along with other marine animals in the deep bluey green sea.
