St Petersburg

St. Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia, perched on the banks of the Neva the city is crisscrossed by canals. Known as the cultural capital St Petersburg is also an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.

St. Isaac's Cathedral

The largest Russian cathedral in the city, the central gold done is one of the largest in the world, and covered with 220 pounds of gold.

Hermitage Museum

A museum of art and culture with a collection of over 3 million artworks including Da Vinci and Rembrandt its rivalling the Louvre.

Peterhof Palace

Referred to as the "Russian Versailles" the gardens are laid out on the orders of Peter the Great, the Peterhof Palace overlooks the Gulf of Finland.

Catherine Palace

Designed by Rastrelli, Catherine Palace is a Rococo palace and features a gold dome crown set in spectacular gardens and parklands.

Peter and Paul Fortress

The original citadel of St. Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great now boasts the tombs of many Tsars.

Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood

One of the main sights of St. Petersburg, this restored church boasts a dramatic "Russian Style" exterior. The church is colourfully decorated with ceramic tiles.
